A Tale of Two DMs

During the summer of 2022, my friend Sarah reached out and asked me to DM her first Dungeons & Dragons game. Having only really played one full hombrew campaign, part of another homebrew campaign, and maybe a third of Curse of Strahd with some other friends, I immediately accepted, said a fun four letter word, bought some books, and then had the brilliant idea to ask Sarah what kind of game she wanted to play.

She requested a campaign centered around Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which, thankfully, I knew entirely too much about (thanks to a fanfiction that never left my Google Drive), and we got started.

Sarah and I reached out to our friends and started putting our art degrees to work. I realized how complicated DMing was, panicked a little, and recruited my friend Laura to help me master these dang dungeons so we could all have a real campaign that lasted more than three sessions. And with her amazing coloring skills, mechanical expertise, and mastery of Roll20, we had our game.

On July 8th, 2022, I created a discord server, and we've been playing for as many Thursday evenings as we could together ever since.
